Melbourne: Former Westlife member Brian McFadden was detained by Federal Police at Sydney Airport after he allegedly got drunk and abusive on a Virgin flight from LA.

McFadden, 30, was travelling on a Virgin flight in business class with friend and fellow Australia’s Got Talent judge Kyle Sandilands.

The singer was drinking heavily and abused flight attendants and fellow passengers, witnesses revealed, and he was also smoking on the flight.

Sandilands, 39, was forced to restrain him, and Virgin cabin crew are said to have reported the incident to ground staff in Sydney.
McFadden was questioned when the plane landed, and an Australian Federal Police spokeswoman said police had spoken to two men when the plane landed in Sydney.

While airline staff had requested the men be spoken to by police, no formal complaint was made and as a result the men were released without being charged and no further action would be taken she said.

McFadden has denied smoking on the plane, telling Channel Nine he doesn’t smoke.
