Minnelli quit reading salacious gossip about herself on Liz Taylor’s advice

London: Veteran actor Liza Minnelli stopped reading gossip about herself in the press after Dame Elizabeth Taylor advised her to avoid media stories.

Minnelli, 65, who was very close to Taylor before her death earlier this year, admits she has always been grateful to the ‘Cleopatra’ star for one handy tip.

"I remember calling her one day. I was crying about something awful someone had said about me in the press. There was a pause. ‘You read that stuff?,’” the Daily Star quoted Minnelli as telling the Daily Mail.

"She told me she never read a single thing about herself so I stopped, too, there and then, which meant there was never anything lousy going round and round in my brain. I thought that was good advice,” she said.

Minnelli is also convinced she made the right decision.

"I feel centred, content right now,” she added.
