Miss World 2012: Vanya Mishra loses the pageant to Miss China Zeenews Bureau

Ordos (China): Miss People's Republic of China was crowned Miss World 2012 in a glittering ceremony here.

India’s contender for the much-coveted Miss World 2012 title, Vanya Mishra was amongst the top seven finalists at the global beauty pageant. Vanya won ‘Miss Social Media’ and ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ title and was being touted as one of the probable winner.

The contenders for the ‘Miss Social Media’ round were judged for their social networking skills which are in demand these days to climb the ladder of success.

Vanya was also noted for the work she did with a charity named ‘Muktangan’ which won her fifty points extra, thus making her entry easy amongst the top 7 finalists.

During the final round, the contestants were asked Why they deserved to be the next Miss World. Vanya answered: “I believe that the next Miss World should be a woman with a kind heart and humility, who wherever she goes, makes people feel that she is their own. Somebody who carries simple values in this complex world, somebody who believes in herself. And this is what I believe I am.”

Vanya is currently doing her undergraduate programme in Electrical Engineering and hails from the city of Jalandhar.

There were 116 participating countries this year – the most number of participating countries thus far.

,I THINK I WAS FAIR .....ALL THE GIRLS HAVE THE BEAUTY WITH THE PURPOSE ,I AS AN INDIVIDUAL FEEL THAT WE CANNOT BLAME ON OTHER COUNTRY OF JUST BEING THAT YOU ARE NOT A WINNER. - jas - new delhi
I think this crown was already fix b'cause of in whole world china has no beauty at ever, miss world 2012 competition held in china that's why she was win this crown,so,it is clearly shown it is a partiality. - sunil parmar - trivandrum
I feel miss Australia was very beautiful and Miss South Sudan answered the best..she really sounded like an intelligent woman. Even though I am ethnic Indian myself..I somehow felt Miss India was just very average in looks..girl next door sorts. I have seen much prettier girls in India. - renu - malaysia
this is unfair decision , vanya is strongest contestant .i think crown was fix .unexpected result .................. you are good vanya,, - chan - new delhi
miss india was a revelation that night. i also thought that she was going to win or at least be in the top 3 considering the fact that she had a stronghold of the competition. what a shock! even mexico was not in the top 7. and miss philippines lost the talent competition to china's very weak singing snoozefest. congrats india for doing so well. - balen.c.iaga - philippines
It ok vanya now you can make your bollywood career & search millionare person for your marriage. - Geetika Chaddha - Mumbai
I so much agree. This just proves that the competition was fixed from the beginning. Better NOT to send our contestants to Miss World. Time to boycott such unfair competitions. She won because she is made in china. How can Miss China fulfill her role as she will be based in the UK for a year and expected to influence positively world causes if she cannot even be understood verbally?. How will she communicate? Hire an interpreter for her? RUBBISH. - tuananh - Miss China
Vanya Mishra your thought was very good .. in this hectic scenario no body seems to be so good with people.. .participation is more important and wining & losing goin side by side as in a coin there is head and tail ..don't worry be happy always look at the brighter side of life... happy and prosperous future.. - DURGESH NANDAN - newdelhi

this is expected and even chinesegovt know that china will never make in international pageant? in 100 yrs and coz chinese girls lacks lot? of things and cant speak english proper to comunicate with world. only golden chance they wuld have got during when they host the miss world contest in thier homeland.they succeeded in it twice once in 2007 and now 2012. this is all communist chinese govt politics and i am sure the govt? have paid big price to miss world organisatiion to get her crown or by putting lot of pressure on judges. - Sameer - Goa
