Los Angeles: Accomplished Chicago theatre and television actress Molly Glynn died after getting struck by a fallen tree on her head during a storm.

The 46-year-old, who played a recurring role as a doctor on 'Chicago Fire', was riding a bicycle with her husband Joe Foust on the Forest Preserve Trail in Erickson Woods when the tragic accident happened.

She was taken to Evanston Hospital in Chicago where she died the following day from her injuries, suggest reports.

Foust posted on Facebook about the accident.

"Friends, this is the darkest day of my life. Things will never be the same. Molly got hit by a falling tree while we were biking. At hospital now. Prognosis is grim," he said.

He later updated his Facebook page with the sad news, writing, "I couldn't save her. I couldn't save her. She's gone."

Glynn, who also appeared in episodes of 'Boss' and 'Early Edition', is survived by two teenage sons in addition to her husband.

A Give Forward campaign has been set up to raise money to help Foust pay for medical and funeral expenses and to support his children. It has collected USD 114,000 of its goal of USD 125,000.
