New Delhi: If you think 'Ice Bucket Challenge' had taken a toll on you already, think again! Here comes a desi version by the name of 'Rice Bucket Challenge'. Yes, it's true and we are not joking. Like the West one was all about creating awareness for deadly disease called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), this Indianised form is all about donating the 'rice' bucket to the needy.
Well, this noble initiative started by a Hyderabadi woman journalist, urges people to either cook or buy one bucket of rice to the needy. The campaign has kicked-off on a good note, with several people gung-ho about the challenge.
Like in ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, this one too requires people, who take it up to further nominate others. The campaign has already spread like fire on the virtual world—taking the social networking site Facebook and micro-blogging site Twitter by storm. The challenge is trending on Twitter with a hashtag #RiceBucketChallenge.
Here is what she posted:

Bollywood too has started taking a keen interest in this challenge. Actress-singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi took the challenge and successfully completed it. She donated the rice bucket to needy and posted her picture on Twitter. The actress-turned-singer nominated her former husband Shekhar Kapur, filmmaker Ken Ghosh, and one more director for the challenge.
Kudos to Suchitra for accepting it and now we are waiting for other Bollywood celebrities to follow suit soon!
