Mumbai: Versatile actor Kay Kay Menon, who will be next seen in Remo D`Souza`s `ABCD - Any Body Can Dance` is full of praise for megastar Amitabh Bachchan and actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan, who he feels has been largely instrumental in bringing content to Hindi cinema.
Menon got a chance to share screen space with Big B in Ram Gopal Varma`s `Sarkar`, where he played his son. "I believe the era of Amitabh Bachchan is not going to come back. He is the last star that we have. He is someone who did not require marketing to promote himself, it was his work that spoke for him," Menon told PTI in an interview here. "It was only his one poster that had the film running for 25 weeks. That is what I would call stardom and the charisma he has. I don`t think anyone can be like him," he said. Working with Bachchan was a memorable experience for Menon. "I cherish the way he works. I got to learn so much from him," the 45-year-old said. As for Aamir, Menon may not have worked with him, but he is in awe of him for the way he churns out his films. "I admire the way Aamir is involved with his films; one can see the difference in screenplay. I think as an actor Aamir has made a difference to cinema. He is not like those self-proclaimed stars that don`t have talent but market themselves in a good way," he said. "Aamir is taking the route of having content in cinema. It`s a good thing and I really like the way he does it." The offbeat actor however, played safe while talking about the other two powerful Khans - Shah Rukh and Salman in the industry. "They are doing well and are successful. I hope they would try and protect some cinema in their films. I think big stars today are in a position to revive content in films, revive cinema and they should do it," he felt. Bollywood is ruled by stars, but Menon is happy being an actor. "I think being a star has nothing to do with acting. It`s all about marketing today. I am happy being an actor," he said. Asked if he plans to produce films, Menon says, "No there are no plans of producing films. I believe in specialising. And I am a specialised actor. If someday I get bored of it I would think of doing something else." Menon will be seen next in Remo D`Souza`s `ABCD - Any Body Can Dance`. The 3D dance film stars Prabhu Deva, Ganesh Acharya and contestants from reality show `Dance India Dance`. The film is set to release on February 8. PTI
