Bangalore: A well-known Kannada TV starlet Hemashri was brought mysteriously dead by her husband Surendra Babu to the Baptist hospital in the city four days ago. Though the police are investigating the case, her husband – a Janata Dal (Secular) leader - has been arrested by the officials.
Surendra Babu had informed the police that Hemashri became unwell in the car after which he took her to the hospital. However, police claims that the starlet had wounds on her body. Additional Commissioner Suneel Kumar said, "Surendra Babu has been arrested and will remain in our custody till October 19. Investigations are on in the case."
According to an autopsy report, there was liquid in Hemashri’s stomach that appeared to be chloroform, which hints at the possibility of an attempt to make her unconscious.
The parents of Hemashri are clueless about the reason behind the tragic event.
The actress shot to fame via her TV stints and was married to a much older man by her parents. Now, the question is whether she was forcibly married to Surendra who was obsessed with her perhaps for some political gains.
TV artiste Rakesh said, "It`s a lesson for those who want to marry their daughters off to rich persons. It`s not only important that the man has money, but he should be capable of taking care of your daughter."
Although the post-mortem failed to give a clear conclusion, only a forensic report later this week could help solving the mystery behind the murder.
