Rajesh Khanna farewell: Lata Mangeshkar remembers Kaka
Mumbai: As India bid a teary farewell to Rajesh Khanna, melody queen Lata Mangeshkar shared fond memories of the star whose popularity created hysteria among people which till date remains unmatched.
Talking to Zee News, Lata Mangeshkar said, “I was pained to see on TV the visual of Rajesh Khanna on the funeral pyre and I couldn’t help and remember those golden days when no other star but only he ruled the industry.” On a nostalgic note, Lata added, “Rajesh Khanna would always be very polite and we used to enjoy his company every time we had a get together.”
One being asked about her own experience, she said, “I met him only 4-5 times, but whatever little time I spent with him, they were all very cherishing.”
Further she said, “It is a very sad day for each one of us in the industry irrespective of whether they have had the opportunity to work with the star or not.
Paying her last respect to Kaka ji, Lata tweeted "Aaj humari filmi duniya ke bohot mashhoor kalakar rajesh khanna ji, humare bich nahi rahe,mujhe bohot dukh hai, main dimple ji, unki betiyaan aur daamad in sab ke dukh me shamil hun, ishwar rajesh khanna ji ki aatma ko shanti pradan kare."
