Mumbai: Indian cinema’s first superstar Rajesh Khanna will be cremated in Mumbai on Thursday. The last rites will be performed at 11 am.
Sources have revealed that the funeral procession will begin from his home - Aashirwad. The actor, who was suffering from liver infection, passed away on Wednesday afternoon. He was 69.
The superstar had been in and out of hospital since April and had stopped taking food. During his last few days, his estranged wife Dimple Kapadia was by his side along with his two daughters Twinkle and Rinkie and son-in-laws Akshay Kumar and Sameer Saran.
As news of his death broke, many of the actor’s colleagues from the industry rushed to Aashirwad to pay their respect to Kaka. Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and many others were seen at Aashirwad.
"He has gone to a nice and heavenly place, we are happy about that," Rajesh`s son-in-law Akshay Kumar said after his death around 10 am.
