Mumbai: Actor Ranbir Kapoor plans to make his maiden co-production venture `Jagga Jasoos` into a big franchise with a series of films, a show on television and comic books.
Despite having a banner like RK Films, Ranbir is co- producing film `Jagga Jasoos` jointly with Anurag Basu and has floated a company with him called Picture Shuru Productions.
"In RK Films there are four partners - my father, both my uncles and my grandfather. Whenever we have a good director... We will produce a film for that banner. I am very excited about `Jagga Jasoos`, it is a detective film and a musical," Ranbir said in an interview.
"I think we (Anurag Basu and him) both thought of producing together as we had the same thought process. Anurag Basu is a big name. I want to make interesting and entertaining films and give them a right platform not only in India but abroad as well," he said.
The project will kick-start in November and Ranbir, who plays a detective in the film, is looking forward to it.
"We are planning lot of big things for this film. Like we are planning a TV show called `Jagga Junior`, we will start comic books, we will start animation and cartoons," he said.
The actor said they are trying to build a brand of `Jagga Jasoos`, so by the time the film releases, people will be familiar with what `Jagga Jasoos` is about.
Ranbir is also likely to make sequels of `Jagga Jasoos`.
"We are making franchise films, we are trying to make a big film like `Sherlock Homes` meets `Austin Powers`... It is going to be an entertaining film," he said.
Though Ranbir plans to make this franchise big like Hollywood films, he wants to make use of Indian talent only.
"I think India has enough talent to make great films. The least we can do is be honest to the story and characters. I don`t think you need help from Hollywood to make big films," he said.
"There is enough talent in India, like we have `Krrish 3` releasing now and they have used Indian talent for special effects. I think it is testimonial of the fact that we can also try and do something like them or even better," he added.
There are reports that Katrina Kaif has been signed as the leading lady opposite Ranbir for the film, but nothing is confirmed yet.
