Leh: Singer Rekha Bhardwaj had to taken to a hospital here after suffering from breathlessness Saturday.
Rekha, who is here with her filmmaker-husband Vishal Bhardwaj for the second edition of the Ladakh International Film Festival, is said to have gone out for sightseeing Saturday. And the thin oxygen supply here took a toll on her, said a source from the LIFF team.
She was given oxygen, but it didn`t seem to work enough, and she was thus taken to the hospital.
Vishal and even veteran lyricist-writer-filmmaker Gulzar, who is close to the couple, missed the premiere of `The Frontier Gandhi`, a documentary by Teri McLuhan, to be by Rekha`s side.
They had arrived here Thursday.
Rekha is known for her songs like `Namak ishq ka` from the movie `Omkara`, `Sasural genda phool` from `Delhi-6`, `Raat ke dhaai baje` from `Kaminey`. Recently she had the country dancing to the beats of `Ghaghra` featuring actors Madhuri Dixit-Ranbir Kapoor from the 2013 box office hit `Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani`.
She also won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the song `Badi dheere jali` from the movie `Ishqiya` in 2010.
