Washington: Robert De Niro fell asleep on Hilary Swank while they were filming the movie ‘New Year’s Eve’. The veteran actor portrays the character of a man who is dying in the comedy movie, and while Hillary, who plays his daughter, was expecting him to go “method”, she was not prepared for him to get so deep into his role that he doze off.
“You hear all this stuff about Robert De Niro, and he’s method. This is a comedy, but he’s dying. I didn’t want to get in anybody’s way,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying. “So he was laying there and he saw me, and then he shut his eyes, and I was thinking, ‘Wow, he’s giving it to me. We’re connected here. We are connected. Me and De Niro are method,” she said. “I started getting a little emotional. The camera was not on me, but we were just getting into the mood, of the father-daughter relationship, and the father dying. I was feeling it, and I was going deep with De Niro. “The next thing I know, he’s like, ‘Anyone got that coffee?’ I was like, ‘Oh my god, he was sleeping! “I thought he was going deep for me. The truth is, he’d been in that bed all day and he took a nap,” she said. However, the Oscar-winning actress admitted to being delighted at the opportunity to work with the legendary actor. “Robert De Niro, for me, he was on my bucket list. He was on the top of the people I have to work with before it’s all said and done, so I got to check that off,” she added. ANI
