Robert Downey Jr plans to start family

London: Superstar Robert Downey Jr is keen to start a family with second wife Susan in the next two years and this time he wants a girl.

The `Iron Man` star has a teenage son from his previous marriage to actress Deborah Falconer and he believes that a little girl will be a perfect company to his son, Contactmusic reported.

"I think we should probably try to have a girl because I don`t want another male entity to have to compete... I don`t want Indio to feel there`s another boy in my life," he told Playboy magazine.

The 45 year old has a timetable in mind: "I think I will be wrist-deep in doo-doo within 18 months, I`m calling it, right here."

Downey who has been sober for close to five years, also talked about his years as a drug addict.

The actor earned an Academy nomination for his role as Charlie Chaplin in the 1992 film `Chaplin` only to see his career go downhill because of his excessive drug use.

Downey says he can never forget his struggle to come clean.

"Not having done drugs for literally five or six years is a lifetime. I think of myself as someone who has no desire, use for or conscious memory of that life. And yet I don`t shut the door on it, and I don`t pretend it didn`t happen," Downey said.

`Sherlock Holmes` star was frequently arrested on drug-related charges and did several rehab stints between 1996 to 2001 to break from the habit. After doing supporting roles in mainstream films like `Gothika` and `Zodiac`, the actor made a successful comeback with his title role in `Iron Man` in 2007.
