Rourke is ‘careful with money’

Mickey Rourke is still too scared to spend any money after years of being broke, it has been revealed.

London: Mickey Rourke is still too scared to spend any money after years of being broke, it has been revealed.
Despite his newfound success with the lead role in ``The Wrestler``, Mickey is still worried about spending his money, reveals fellow actor Jason Stratham. "I wouldn’t say Mickey is tight but when he takes a jacket to the dry cleaners he sticks a pair of socks in the inside pocket," the Daily Express quoted Jason as saying. He added that Rourke didn’t pay for dinner when the pair went out, saying: "It’s hard to get him to part with a dollar." After shooting to fame in the Eighties, Rourke led an extravagant life. However, he ended up losing most of his money and his work. "I never had much respect for money and when you spend it like I did it soon goes," Rourke said. Speaking about his tough times he revealed: "I was flat broke and I could hardly pay for a bowl of spaghetti in a restaurant. I was paying 500 dollar a month for a one-room apartment with a yard for my dogs. "I had a Mini Cooper and couldn’t even afford to fill it up. "A friend used to give me a couple of hundred dollars a month just to feed myself. I’d be calling up my ex-wife and crying like a baby," he added. ANI
