Mumbai: Salman Khan has risen to the stature of the king of the Box Office with three consecutive Eid releases that have been blockbusters - `Wanted`, `Dabangg` and `Bodyguard`. And with his film collecting over Rs. 100 crore in a span of 5 days since its release, trade analysts are comparing him with Tamil superstar Rajinikanth.
Talking to a tabloid, Bollywood trade expert Komal Nahta said, “Films have released on Eid down the years, but the festival combined with Salman and his action is the major reason for this kind of overwhelming response.”
“A couple of days after Eid, the collections usually start to drop. But on the sixth day too, ‘Bodyguard’ continues to sustain well,” added Nahta.
Another trade analyst Sanjay Ghai is of the opinion that Anurag Kashyap shouldn’t have released his film `That Girl In The Yellow Boots` when `Bodyguard` was slated to. Even `Bol` starring Pakistani artists should have opted for another day for its release.
“At another time, they could have done respectable business. But this time, no other movie stood any chance. And it`s the first time that a film has done so well across cities, small towns, villages, multiplexes and single screens,” Ghai said.
Bollywood’s business experts might have compared Salman with Rajini for generating quick and massive money at the Box Office but there are other similarities too…Salman and Rajini have exceptional fanatic fan following and that the two superstars are humility personified!
Probably that matters more than anything else for their fans!
