Mumbai: Salman Khan, who has spent 25 glorious years of his life in Bollywood, has become a brand in himself. His journey from `Maine Pyaar Kiya` to the Box-Office sensation `Dabangg` has transformed his image from a romantic hero to that of an action king. With the `self-proclaimed virgin` turning `48` this year, let`s take a look at some untold facts pertaining to his personal and professional life.
The actor, whose full name is Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan, was born to a Muslim father and a Maharashtrian mother. The star once revealed that he is `half Hindu and half Muslim` and celebrates Hindu festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi with the same zest and fervour.
Khan`s first Bollywood venture was a small supporting role in a movie `Biwi Ho To Aisi`, but it was his second film `Maine Pyaar Kiya`, in which he appeared in the lead role.
It is also said that Salman Khan was the first actor, who was offered the blockbuster movie `Baazigar`, but he was supposedly unsure about playing a negative character and turned down the offer. The lead role in `Baazigar` eventually went to Shah Rukh Khan.
Salman Khan had once revelaed that his favourite Bollywood actress is Hema Malini.
The actor had two fatwas issued against him by the Muslim organisations for forbidding Islamic law that forbids idol
worship.
The 48-year-old actor often donates blood and is actively involved in charity work through his very own `Being Human` organisation.
Salman Khan did his first playback singing for his movie ` Hello Brother`.
