Omung Kumar who rose to fame with his directorial debut - 'Mary Kom' - a biopic based on the life of Olympic champion Mary Kom, has started shooting for his next venture 'Sarbjit'.

The film stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur and Randeep Hooda essaying the title role.

Based on the life of an Indian prisoner held captive in Pakistan, the film 'Sarabjit' will recreate moments from Sarabjit's life on celluloid.

Sarabjit, an Indian farmer was convicted of terrorism by a Pakistani court and eventually sentenced to death but the same was repeatedly postponed by the Pakistan government.  He was later assaulted by jail inmates who beat him so brutally that he succumbed to his injuries a few days later.
