Scarlett Johansson not in running for `Rodham` role
Los Angeles: Actress Scarlett Johansson has denied that she will be playing Hillary Clinton in the biopic `Rodham`.
Johansson, who was listed as one of the early front-runners to play the political bigwig, said she has no involvement in the project.
"Scarlett has never been asked to do this film. She hasn`t been approached about it nor seen a script. It`s a total fabrication," a representative for the actress.
The short list of actresses who could play former Secretary of State and First Lady Hillary Clinton has just narrowed even further. Earlier, Carey Mulligan passed on the role in `Rodham`, reported Ace showbiz.
Johansson and Mulligan aren`t the only two actresses who won`t play Clinton in the new film. Jessica Chastain was rumored for the part, but shot down that discussion as pure speculation.
Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence was also reportedly mentioned as a possibility for the project as well.
Reese Witherspoon and Amanda Seyfried were the other names associated with `Rodham` in the original report about the casting search, but neither actress has commented on the possibility of appearing in the film.
James Ponsoldt will direct `Rodham` from a script by Young II Kim.
