Mumbai: Friendship is in the air these days. Shah Rukh Khan has patched up with his old friend, ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Buzz has it that when an elated Bhansali was receiving endless adulations during a special screening of his film ‘Guzaarish’ at Yash Raj Studios, King Khan called him up after a gap of two long years just to praise his work.
A source close to the director, while talking to a tabloid revealed that the filmmaker could not believe his eyes initially to see Shah Rukh’s name flashing on his mobile screen. Bhansali was so ecstatic that he was loud enough to greet Shah Rukh, making his feelings quite obvious.
The actor-director duo had a lengthy chat for over 20 minutes. An eyewitness revealed, “The filmmaker was in a very animated conversation with King Khan.”
The world-class director tried hard to keep his happiness under wraps but his body language said it all. The master filmmaker also told his assistants that Shah Rukh Khan admired ‘Guzaarish’.
“I can’t tell you everything that we spoke. But SRK did say that Devdas was his best and this is our best”, said Bhansali.
The old time friends split since the release of ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Saawariya’. King Khan’s comment on Bhansali’s Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Saawariya’ had hurt the director’s sentiments.
Talking about ‘Om Shanti Om’, Bhansali in retaliation said, “Gags and jokes at senior actors do not make a film great. Cinema is not about laughing at legends. If we don’t do something new, our cinema will become a stagnant pool of gags and jokes masquerading as a masala entertainer.”
Moreover, Bhansali doesn’t get along well with Shah Rukh’s “once best buddy” Farah Khan and “all time friend” Karan Johar.
But now that Bhansali and Shah Rukh have reconciled, any guesses if the duo would prolong to have any reservations in future?
