Los Angeles: Sheryl Crowe`s split from cycling champion Lance Armstrong and her battle with cancer inspired her to adopt.
The 48-year-singer and cyclist Lance broke up in 2006 after three years together and Crowe adopted son Wyatt in 2007, Redbook magazine online reported. Crowe said that the separation, along with her treatment for breast cancer led her to re-evaluate her life. "I`d just been through a pretty painful break-up where there were kids involved, and I`d also been through breast cancer treatment. After that, I felt an acute sense of urgency about how I wanted my life to feel. Since I wasn`t married, my idea of what the picture was supposed to look like no longer served any great purpose," Crowe said. The Grammy Award-winning artist announced she had adopted a second son, Levi, in June 2010, and she admits she had wanted Wyatt, now three, to have a sibling for some time. "It`s been in the works for a while. I was hoping to adopt a child when Wyatt was two; a lot of the adoptions fell through. But things always work out perfectly. They just do. Generally, when you let go of your vision of how something is supposed to be, the universe hands you exactly what you need," Crowe said. PTI
