Mumbai: Sonam Kapoor may have the girl-next-door looks but her attitude is quite starry and impertinent. Not long back, she had offended her senior Aishwarya Rai Bachchan by calling her ‘Aunty Ji’ and now she has been taking a dig at veteran writer Shobha De on Twitter. According to reports, Shobha De wrote a critical review of ‘I Hate Luv Storys’, which did not go well with the director of the film Punit Malhotra and Sonam Kapoor. So, they publicly made fun of the writer calling her ‘a fossil who’s getting no action’.
Sonam Kapoor re-posted an unsavoury personal comment by Punit Malhotra on Twitter: “Guys pls (sic) don’t take Shobha De seriously. She’s a fossil who’s getting no action and going through menopause.” The actress seemed delighted with the incisive comment and also added ‘ha ha’. Later, when a furore began over their statements, Punit and Sonam deleted the comments from Twitter.
Earlier, Shobha De had written about ‘IHLS’, "What an absolute waste casting Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor in this utterly dull, total dud of a movie which is more a wonky tribute to Karan Johar`s earlier films, songs and screen pairings. After a point, all those `in` jokes and references start bugging the viewer, particularly a replay of his popular songs as background scores and an embarrassingly gauche recreation of iconic scenes, like the ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ dialogue between Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.”
“Come on guys, are you that desperate for original ideas that you have to pack so many reels of a contemporary film with such obvious take-offs? This isn`t clever tongue-in-cheek stuff. It`s plain unimaginative," she wrote.
When contacted by a news daily, the actress played safe to save her goody goody image. Sonam’s spokesperson defended her, saying, “She merely wrote ‘Haha’ in response to what Punit said.”
However, Shobha De has maintained a dignified silence over the issue.
