Mumbai: Aspiring actor Sooraj Pancholi, who was in judicial custody for allegedly abetting actress Jiah Khan`s death, was released on bail Tuesday.
He has reportedly been asked by Salman Khan to fly to Hyderabad. Son of actor Aditya Pancholi and actress Zarina Wahab, Sooraj is being considered to reprise the role of Jackie Shroff in Subhash Ghai’s 1980 blockbuster ‘Hero’.
It was earlier reported that the producers of the remake of ‘Hero’ wanted Salman Khan to take a final call on Sooraj’s launch pad. Even Ghai while talking to a tabloid said, “Salman will take the final call. I will be going to meet him next week. It`s just bad luck; I don`t think Suraj should be blamed for what happened. But Salman will take the final call and decide how and when things will happen.”
The remake in question may star Athiya, daughter of actor Suniel Shetty.
“I don’t, for a moment, regret the decision to launch my daughter with Sooraj. Why should I? He is as much my child as Aathiya,” DNA had quoted Suniel as saying.
Sooraj, who was arrested June 10, was granted bail by Bombay High Court Monday. He has been ordered to pay a surety of Rs.50, 000, surrender his passport and report to police whenever required for investigations.
