Mumbai: If you have ever wondered if anyone could grow younger with age then take a look at Bollywood’s perfectionist superstar - Aamir Khan. The actor-filmmaker turned 48 today!
Khan, who made his debut with ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ as a cute boy next-door way back in 1988, has turned into an institution now. For someone, who usually works in one film per year, has been able to carve a niche for himself. Not just that, his name is now a brand in itself.
With remarkable films like ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Lagaan’, ‘Mangal Pandey’, ‘Rang De Basanti’, Aamir was able to win hearts of millions across the globe. Popular for being a commercial film actor, Aamir forayed into direction with ‘Taare Zameen Par’, an offbeat film that spoke about dyslexia. Moreover, his film ‘Peepli Live’ also garnered rave reviews.
The actor believes in experimenting and thus comes up with novel concepts that conventional filmmakers seldom choose to touch. His film ‘Dhobhi Ghat’ is a fine specimen that substantiates this fact, as does ‘Talaash’.
The superstar has evolved as a human and has expanded his horizons beyond the showbiz world. He is a social activist, a responsible Indian citizen and above all, a revolutionary.
He made his debut on Indian TV last year with ‘Satyamev Jayate’ that prompted many politicians to take steps to address issues highlighted on his show.
His participation in Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement or his involvement with the Narmada Bachao Andolan with Medha Patkar speaks volumes about his socially concerned nature. Moreover, he is also the face of Ministry of Tourism’s ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ campaign and government’s IEC campaign to raise awareness about malnutrition.
Papa’s beta has indeed made a bada naam. Here’s wishing Aamir Khan a very Happy Birthday.
