Superstar Rajinikanth, who is a cultural icon of the country, has an ocean of fan following. The multi-talented actor who is considered no less than a god in the southern film industry, has successfully completed four decades in the films.

New Delhi: Superstar Rajinikanth, who is a cultural icon of the country, has an ocean of fan following. The multi-talented actor who is considered no less than a god in the southern film industry, has successfully completed four decades in the films.Rajinikanth, who is also called Thalaivaa, is a big name in Bollywood as well as in the South Indian film industry. The 63 year-old actor who is currently busy shooting for `Lingaa` with Bollywood diva Sonakshi Sinha, was also a part of the historic celebration that took place on the sets of Chennai to mark the occasion. The damsel then took to Twitter on Tuesday, to post the picture of the celebrations and wish the legend. The `Lingaa` team also congratulated the versatile actor on completing forty years.
The legendary actor started his career with the National-Award winning film `Apoorva Raagangal` in 1975 and slowly he earned the status of `superstar` after doing successful Tamil movies. The superstar marked his Bollywood debut with `Andha Kanoon` in 1983 with Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini. The movie went on to become a massive hit and ever since then Amitabh and Rajinikanth have shared a great bond and delivered movies like `Hum` and `Geraftaar` together. The man is worshipped in the South because of his generosity and philanthropy. Such is the charm and power of this magnanimous man, that when he decided to take a break from acting in the 80`s, he had to make a comeback following popular demand. No doubt that he holds a matinee idol status in South India. Very few people know that Rajinikanth is the highest paid actor in Asia after Jackie Chan. This happened after he earned 26 crore for his role in `Sivaji`(2007). Rajinikanth`s last release `Kochadaiiyaan`, which was directed by his daughter Soundarya, went on to receive great reviews for the actor. If one has to count his share of awards then he can boast of many. The `boss` has won six Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, four Best Actor Awards and two Special Awards for Best Actor and a Filmfare Best Tamil Actor Award. In 2000, the cultural idol received the Padma Bhushan, India`s third highest civilian honour. At 63, the man of the moment is thriving and riding high on success. May he complete another successful decade and entertain us the way he does now. Long live Thalaivaa!
