Tamils protest against Salman Khan for backing Sri Lankan President Rajapakasa
New Delhi: Hundreds of Tamils on Sunday morning protested against Salman Khan outside his residence in Mumbai, reports stated.
According to reports, the protesters have said that they will continue to hold protests until the superstar apologies for allegedly campaigning in support of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakasa.
Criticising the 49-year-old Hindi cinema superstar, political parties such as MDMK, DMK said his support for Rajapaksa was not just unfair to Tamils, but also to the Indian fishermen who were attacked by the Sri Lankan navy.
Khan, along with Sri Lankan-born Jacqueline Fernandez and five other Bollywood performers were roped to campaign for Rajapaksa in the upcoming Presidential elections which are due next month in the island republic..
Rajapaksa is under fire from political parties in Tamil Nadu as he was at the helm of affairs in 2009 when civilian casualties in the Tamil-dominated areas in Sri Lanka's northeast reportedly peaked during the last leg of the war between Lankan army and LTTE.
Following this, security has been beefed up outside the superstars residence.
