Mumbai: Mumbai police has taken model Simran Sud in its custody to question her about Delhi based Arunkumar Tikku’s murder.
Earlier the police had arrested Tikku’s son, actor Anuj Tikku but he was later given a clean chit. According to the police, Simran was aware of Tikku’s murder plan and the police insist that she would be able to give more details about the case.
Arunkumar Tikku was found murdered in his flat in Oshiwara, a suburb of Mumbai. Police had detained son Anuj as a suspect in the case. But after probing further, it has emerged that the gruesome act was the handiwork of two paying guests Manoj and Dhananjay and not Anuj Tikku.
Anuj had rented his apartment in Lokhandwala complex in Mumbai to two tenants, Manoj and Dhananjay, who were in possession of fake identity, said police.
The paying guests had moved in to live with Tikku`s son Anuj only a fortnight ago. The victim was a widower and had recently arrived in the city to take his son back to Delhi as he did not have a job.
According to police, Anuj is mentally disturbed and was receiving treatment at a hospital in Jaipur for the past four-five years and his father disapproved of him staying alone in Mumbai. When the murder was committed, Anuj was taken to Goa, unaware of the happenings.
Anuj has appeared in small roles in films like ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ starring Shah Rukh Khan and in ‘No One Killed Jessica’.
