US firefighters honour John Travolta

Washington: US firefighters have honoured John Travolta for his contribution in helping first responders overcome health issues.

Travolta has revealed that his involvement with Heroes Health Fund hits close to home, as he admitted that he has been saddened to see some of his own pals falling sick from toxic fumes they are exposed to regularly in the line of duty.

“Initially, after 9/11 (the September 11 attacks in 2001), I observed, as many others did, the ill effects of the chemicals firefighters, police and EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians) were exposed to,” Contactmusic quoted him as telling TV news ‘show Extra’.

“Then I did the movie Ladder 49 and, with my own eyes, I got to see all the friends who trained me in the movie suffering from ailments,” he added.
