Mumbai: Australia played host to talented actress Vidya Balan in an event which showcased the world`s largest movie industry – Bollywood. Flanked by dashing Oz cricketer Shane Warne, Vidya made quite a statement in an elegant white sari with a thick black border.
The actress attended the event to launch Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. The aim of the Indian Film Festival in Melbourne is to showcase the extraordinary depth and diversity of the Indian film industry. Incidentally, Balan is IFFM’s ambassador.
Attending the event, the Victorian Minister for Tourism, Louise Asher said. ``We want to ensure [Victoria is] at the forefront of positioning our businesses to do well in India. It`s in that context, given that Bollywood is so big, that we`re not only looking to develop business ties but cultural ties with India.``
A special screening of ‘The Dirty Picture’ was held at the festival followed by a Q&A session with Vidya Balan.
