New Delhi: RDB, the popular UK Bhagra band was in Delhi this weekend to rock the crowd once again. As always, they saw a huge fan rush at their event.
RDB is a band of Punjabi DJ’s who specialize in Punjabi music. Their music is a unique blend of various genres combined with Punjabi. Their band name is an acronym that stands for – Rhythm, Dhol, Bass- and their music sure lives up to that.
“We have experimented with various genres however we stuck to Punjabi as the language for all our albums and songs. There has not only been club music and dance numbers we also released a religious album in 2007”, echoed band members.
They have sung a few tracks for various films in Bollywood as well as have released individual albums. They have a huge fan following for they are the powerhouse performers who belt out absolutely amazing dance numbers. Their music is something you can’t help but dance to.
Kuly, Manj and Surj are the three band members who performed along with Nindy Kaur in Delhi; they set the crowd on fire with their smashing hits.
“There is a particular section of people who love our kind of music, plus by and large in India, Punjabi music is big on the dance and party platform. Even Bollywood encourages a lot of Punjabi songs to make film music more saleable and party friendly,” feels Kuly.
RDB has been around for a few years and have won hearts of their fans all over the world by performing in many countries across the globe.
“We have been around for almost a decade now; we have made our best effort o reach fans all over the world. There has been great response from India each time we have toured here,” said Manj.
The Punjabi band has fans not just in Asian Indian countries but also many other foreign countries as their music is a blend of various styles which goes with international standard.
They have toured in many countries such as UK, Belgium, Germany, Norway, Canada, USA, South America, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Dubai, India, Pakistan and Kenya.
RDB has sung for many Bollywood films such as ‘Singh Is Kinng,’ ‘Aloo Chaat,’ ‘Kambakkht Ishq,’ ‘Namastey London,’ ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ to name a few. They enjoy being a part of Indian film industry and singing for Bollywood.
“We have sung for a few films in Bollywood and it has been a great response from fans and also for the films music. Punjabi music has a thing in itself it can make any album a hit. Our numbers from Bollywood films have been a huge success amongst fans and followers,” quotes Kuly.
The Bradford based UK-Bhangra band had the crowds grooving high on their music in capital and they absolutely loved the desi audience and fans.
RDB wished to have more frequent visits to India and doing many more concerts and such events.
