Currently concentrating on his new band named ‘Black Light Burns’, Borland set his Indian fans alive with his exceptional performance on Sunday at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. Considered as the hand behind the musical success of Limp Bizkit, in an exclusive interview with Abhimanyu Kukreja, Borland spoke about the evolving Rock n Roll scene in India, his music and a lot more.Wes Borland, former band mate and bassist of ‘Limp Bizkit,’ set the night rolling in the National Capital. Borland will be performing in Bangalore on Monday amidst a tight schedule before he goes back after his two-day stint in India. He set the crowd ablaze when he performed a special act with his guitar, playing it more like a violin with a stick. Wes Borland, the new age guitarist and bassist has been in several other bands like Damming Well, Big Dumb Face and From First to Last.
Here are some of the extracts from the interview:Abhimanyu: How long have you been in India and how has it been over here till now? Wes: Well, this is just my second day in India, I reached Delhi at ten in the night yesterday, so couldn’t really go out any where as I had a tight schedule. But I did go to the Akshardham Temple, which was a majestic experience. Abhimanyu: How has life been after Limp Bizkit? Wes: I had a different idea about music. I have a new band now titled, ‘Black Light Burns.’ Abhimanyu: What are the projects you have undertaken with Black Light Burns? Wes: I am working on my new album that has been in the making since a long time. The music is unfiltered and the songs are extremely phenomenal. Ross Robertson is the producer and hopefully this album will work fine. Abhimanyu: When is this album releasing? Wes: The album has a worldwide release on June 5. Abhimanyu: Are there any tours on hand? Wes: Oh yes, we would be touring just anywhere, throughout the world. We have an Asian tour by the end of this year and hopefully we might return back. Abhimanyu: What is your idea about the emerging Indian Rock scene? Wes: Till what I have seen, bands play a lot of covers in a state to create a good show. I am quite interested in knowing more about the scene over here. But they should go ahead and try their own musical stuff. Abhimanyu: Do you plan to come back here? Wes: India is a big country and the rock scene coming out from this nation is quite interesting! We might come back here by the end of this year or maybe the next year. Abhimanyu: Have you heard any Indian band on this tour? Wes: Yes, I just heard an Indian band before my show as they had performed just before me. But talking about India, the world of Rock n Roll needs a band from India now. Abhimanyu: What is your idea about music? Wes: According to me, people should support more of original music rather than playing covers. If you are bending then there is no respect. So I would like to carry on my music and show it to the world rather than playing covers. Abhimanyu: And what about the crowd over here? Wes: The crowd over here is different from what I have seen in the rest of the world. If people want more bands to come, then they should stand up and support original bands and original songs. Abhimanyu: What do you expect out of rock lovers in India? Wes: I want more and more people should demand for original tracks. They should look to the new age bands rather than getting back to old bands, because music has a lot of originality to offer them. I do my own stuff and would like Indian people to listen to it and understand the importance of originals.
