Bar to march for kidnapped Israeli soldier

London: Supermodel Bar Refaeli has often faced bad press back home in Israel for evading military service and the blonde beauty has now taken up the cause of a kidnapped Israeli soldier to mend her image.

The model, who is dating Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo Dicaprio, will join a cross-country march in her home country to keep the case of kidnapped soldier Sergeant Gilad Schalit in the public mind, reported Daily Mail online.

The 23-year-old Israeli has not been seen since he was captured in a raid in 2006 and Refaeli will join thousands of supporters and dozens of other local celebrities on the walk.

The 25-year-old has faced criticism and boycott calls in the past for not fulfilling the compulsory military service.

She had evaded conscription at the age of 18 by marrying and soon divorcing a family acquaintance.

In order to end the negative publicity the model had earlier visited injured soldiers and encouraged enlistment in the army.
