Mumbai: Designer Soumitra Mondal revived the magic of old weaving techniques when he presented his collection at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Summer-Resort 2013.
He teamed up with as many as 350 weavers, who created fine hand woven khadi silk and an array of jamdani fabrics for his collection. "The line is very close to my heart. The weavers were an inspiration for the line. I had some 350 weavers working for this. They have used an old weaving technique," Soumitra told media post the show. "It is sad that in four-five years we will no longer be able to find such skilled weavers," he added. The collection had both traditional and Indian garments in shades of off white and pink. They were all hand woven. "I have chosen rani pink for my collection as it is a very fresh colour and is soothing to the eyes," he said. IANS
