Ethiopian model Liya Kebede is L’Oreal’s new face

New York: Liya Kebede, an Ethiopian model and actress, has been chosen as the new face for L’Oreal Paris.

The 33-year-old beauty, who joined rocker Gwen Stefani as the latest spokesmodels for the cosmetics giant, said that it is important for her to represent a brand that reflects her personality.

“I’m pleased to play a part in sharing the uniqueness, the charisma, and the incredible stories of women of all origins and from all regions of the world,” the New York Daily News quoted Kebede as saying in a statement.

Kebede is a UN Goodwill Ambassador for the World Health Organization and has a foundation that offers HIV education, reproductive health care and medicine to women in need in Awassa, Ethiopia.

In 2007, she also launched her own clothing line, Lemlem, which aims to support the trade of local artisans in Africa.
