Falguni & Shane Peacock unveil the futuristic Indian bride

New Delhi: Husband-wife designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock experimented with biker jackets, jersey and eye masks for their wedding collection at the ongoing India Bridal Fashion Week.

Titled `Nuitsauge`, which means a wild take on vintage, the display by the couple showed their aspirations for an ahead-in-times bride of India. Replacing the traditional cholis by jerseys and styling dupattas as capes, the collection moved away from the typical Indian bridal look to make space for western elements.

"We feel everyone wants to do things with a twist and being original is what every bride aspires to be. And we wanted to give them some sort of inspiration that it is not necessary to wear dupattas in typical manner or cholis," the duo told reporters after the show.

"We have changed silhouettes to make the bridal clothes look more cool and trendy because now brides want to look in future, so our collection is aimed at providing clothes for a futuristic bride," said the couple, when asked if Indian women are ready to include sporty elements in her bridal outfits.

The clothes, heavy on tulle fabric, also included digital prints, which Shane believes is gaining popularity with women.

"Women have come and told us that they want the digital print outfits rather than clothes with embellishments," he said, adding that he always tries to add a flavor of rock-and-roll to his clothes.

The colour palette ranged from black, golden and other champagne colours, a departure from the bright bridal colours.

"I think these subtle colours are fabulous because when you want to show your jewellery then these shades work perfectly. It is lovely to experiment with these shades," the designer said.

Socialite-entrepreneur Charu Sachdev turned showstopper as she walked in a white and golden lehenga.
