Jewellery designs now on clothes

Kolkata: The intricate designs and golden colour palette so far limited to jewellery has now been made into formal evening wear by designer duo Pankaj and Nidhi. Named `Liquid Gold Tree`, the new exotic collection presented at the two-day Blenders Pride Fashion Tour here by the Mumbai-based designers boasts of intricate craftsmanship and finish. Although formal evening wear, each eclectic piece makes a strong fashion statement with its workmanship and beautiful styling details. Pankaj said this would be the first time essentially gold has been used, since they worked with bright colours and contrasts in black, white and grey. The patterns are almost tree of life-like in a gold avatar with plenty of black and colours of precious stones like agate, blue, quartz blue, sapphire and ruby. Model turned actress Chitrangada Singh walked the ramp in one of the timeless gold and black outfits. "We wanted to do something different this time. And, since the tone of Indian skin is very suitable for wearing black, we thought of this new concept," Pankaj, who has dressed Bollywood favourites like Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Neha Dhupia and Shilpa Shetty, said.
