Kate and Pippa’s royal wedding looks `send fake tan sales soaring`

London: Kate and Pippa Middleton’s glowing appearance at the Royal Wedding last month has sent sales of fake tan ``soaring``, according to a UK retail store chain.

It is rumoured that the Middletons achieved their sun-kissed looks- Kate`s natural glow and Pippa`s golden tone- with professionally applied artificial tan.

Debenhams revealed that the afternoon of the royal wedding day on April 29 saw fake tan flying off the shelves with sales up 219 percent compared with the same day last year.

Sales were almost as high the following day as shoppers inspired by the wedding highlights on TV boosted sales by 200 percent.

"You simply can’t underestimate the impact that Kate and Pippa will have on the beauty industry,” Sky News quoted Sara Stern, beauty director at Debenhams, as saying.

"Already streams of wannabe princesses have been flooding into our stores looking to achieve their healthy, groomed look.

"In particular, Kate`s more subtle shade of tan is perfect for big occasions such as weddings," she said.

The chain also said its in-store tanning experts have been ``inundated`` with phone calls.
