Lady Gaga shells out record £85,250 for Alexander McQueen gown

London: Lady Gaga, who made headlines for her controversial meat dress, has upgraded her wardrobe by paying a world record price for a gown by her late friend Alexander McQueen at an auction.

The 26-year-old singer is said to have set a new high for a McQueen, bidding 85,250 pounds in a sale which saw her facing rival bids from institutions and couture collectors from all around the world.

She was among bidders, from 21 countries, who paid almost half a million pounds for items from the personal collection of Daphne Guinness which was sold at Christie’s, a leading daily has reported.

Christie’s confirmed that Gaga was a bidder but was unable to provide any further details of the items that she had purchased.
