New Delhi: Ace fashion designers Anamika Khanna, Rajesh Pratap Singh and Rohit Bal are all set to showcase khadi-based collections in a special event in Ahmedabad, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) announced today.
FDCI along with Gujarat State Khadi and Village Industries Board (GSKVIB) has organised the event, which will be held at the Sardar Patel National Memorial, Ahmedabad, on January 17.
"We are honoured to be associated with the Gujarat State Khadi and Village Industries Board, in support of Khadi in India. We hope that we all will have at least one Khadi piece in our wardrobe, which will in turn help weavers," Sunil Sethi, President FDCI, said in a statement.
Speaking about the event, O Ravi (IAS), member secretary-GSKVIB (Government of Gujarat), said, "Gandhi ji was a passionate champion of a life pattern based on three cardinal prinicples- simplicity, slowness and smallness. Khadi embodies these values and I am thrilled to be part of this vision of making Khadi a part of every Indian household."
The event will also see a special performance by Samandar Khan, renowned Manganiyar vocalist from Barmer, Rajasthan.
