Melbourne: Curvy Sydney-born Robyn Lawley, has become the first plus-size model to feature in Vogue Australia.
The magazine has published its first ever plus-size fashion shoot in the style bible’s 52-year history.
Lawley stars in the magazine’s September issue in a series of sleek monochrome shots modelling designs from Alex Perry, Willow and Carla Zampatti.
But, the decision to cast Lawley, who has already graced the covers of Vogue Italia and French Elle, is no headline-grabbing gimmick, the editor of Vogue Australia, Kirstie Clements, said.
“I didn’t do it as a stunt or anything,” the Herald Sun quoted Clements as saying.
“She’s really beautiful and you have to make the judgement about whether a girl’s special or not, so it really wasn’t about size or to make a statement,” Clements added.
