New Delhi: Summer is here and it is time to update your wardrobe with trendy items like block heels, cotton dresses and long length garments, say designers.
Ritika Mirchandani and Veda Raheja, who are participating in the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) summer-resort 2014, say this season modern clothes in Indian fabrics will dominate the fashion scene.
If last season Indo-Western chola tops, kurtis and Patiala pants led the trend, this year street style will be in vogue.
Talking about trendy cotton fabrics, Mirchandani said: “Textured cotton is a blend of stronger fabrics with cotton to give the garment shape, casual and smart look."
Ankle length garments will also be trendy this summer.
“When I talk about 80 percent lengths, I don`t necessarily mean pants or capris, but even long skirts just above the ankle. Feel free to fit on lighter shades and diversify your colour palette this summer,” Mirchandani said in a statement.
Chandni Mohan feels summer fashion is about being simple.
“You don`t want to wear fitted tops and outfits as the heat can make you extremely uncomfortable. Maxi is the perfect outfit to keep you cool. Keep it simple and just add that extra element of colour and class. Block print, digital, handloom, floral shaded maxi dresses will add that colour to your day,” said Mohan.
As far as footwear is concerned, extra care is required while choosing the right sandals or shoes.
Raheja recommends block heels and said: “They give you that elevation and are extremely comfortable. This season raise the bar with some wonderful block heels. Florals, pastel and even pop tint block heels are a great addition to your outfit."
