Melbourne: Move over Detox, the new weight-loss trend is the Dukan Diet, made popular by French women.
The diet, which most French women swear by, apparently helps losing as much as 6kg in one month.
Supermodel Giselle Bundchen and singer Jennifer Lopez are some of the celebrities who have adopted the Dukan diet.
"I think the fact that Giselle Bundchen does it, every woman will start doing it, because every woman wants to look like her," the Daily Telegraph quoted model Nikki Phillips, as saying.
She added: "You’ve got people like Giselle who are absolutely amazing and pride themselves on their figures out there in the public eye - and if they say this works, it definitely interests me and I’m a non-diet person. I think this diet looks amazing."
However, Dietitians Association of Australia spokeswoman Tara Diversi pointed out that the diet does not include all essential nutrients.
She said: "It’s not a healthy diet. Sure, I think people can lose weight from this . . . but I don’t think there are any health benefits to it.
"Only eating protein for five to 10 days can be quite detrimental to the body because of the essential nutrients people would be missing out on."
