Janmashtami special recipe: Gur ka paara

Treat the Lord, yourself and your family with this amazing recipe on this Krishna Janmashtami (5 September).


2 cups Flour (whole wheat)

1/2 cup Jaggery

1/4 cup Water

4 tablespoon desi ghee

Oil or ghee for deep frying

Some water for melting the jaggery


Heat a kadhai in low flame. Add some water and jaggery and stir it until in melts.

In the meanwhile, in a bowl, put the wheat flour. Add ghee and mix it well.

Then add the jaggery water to this mixture to make dough. Keep aside this dough to settle for over 30 minutes.

Divide this dough into 5-6 equal portions.

Now roll each of these one by one with a rolling pin. Use a butter knife to cut the rolled dough into square shapes.

Heat some oil or ghee in a kadhai. Once it’s ready for cooking, drop the cut dough pieces one by one. Make sure the flame in not too high. Fry until it turns golden brown.

Use tissue papers to drain out excess oil/ghee.
