Onam special recipe: Aval Payasam (Poha Kheer)

3/4 cup Aval (Poha)
3 cup Milk 
1/2 cupSugar 
1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder 
5 tblspn Ghee 
3 tblspn Mixed nuts (Cashew nuts/Raisins/Almonds) 

Heat 2 tblsp of ghee in a thick bottomed pan. Take the dry fruits and roast them in another pan. Fry the aval for 1-2 mins and keep it aside. Pour milk to the pan containing the heated ghee and bring it to boil.Once milk is boiled reduce the flame and add fried poha and 3 tblsp of ghee, You will notice the ghee melts and poha starts getting cooked. Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low flame for 5-6 mins or till mixture starts to thicken. Keep stirring in between.You will notice a layer of ghee appears on the top and mixture thickens. Add cardamom powder and sugar and mix well. Add dry fruits. cookm till the mixture reached ur desired thickness level.
You payasam is ready to serve.
