By: Poonam Bisht They say that marriages are made in heaven and performed on earth. This holds true for the most beautiful woman in the world and the most eligible bachelor in Bollywood. They met, worked together, became friends but both were involved with different partners. No one would have thought that they would come close again, but they did! But this time the bond went way beyond friendship till the duo realised that it was indeed ‘Love’. The Ash-Abhi romance was not exactly the fairly-tale type. It was not love at first sight. The feelings took time to develop as both had felt the pangs of broken relationships in the past. But it can be said that they were destined to be together. They found solace in each other’s arms. Here’s a sneak peak at the Bollywood’s most happening couple’s journey from friendship to romance to engagement.Halki Halki mulakatein thi, door door se baatein thi………………Ash and Abhishek first came together on-screen in 2002 in ‘Dhai Akshar Prem Ke’. The situation was not exactly favourable for the romance to develop. Aishwarya, the former Miss World and the Filmfare Award winning actress was high on popularity charts after delivering a sizzling performance in Bhansali’s ‘Devdas’. While Abhishek, despite being Big B’s son was still finding it hard to get recognition and a place in the hearts of the audience. Besides, Ash was involved with the dashing-yet-brash Salman Khan at the time. Abhishek too was into a serious relationship with girlfriend of many years Karishma Kapoor, the top actress then. Hence, the possibility of any romantic liaison was remote. However, during the shooting of the film, they developed mutual admiration for each other and became quite amicable. Their friendship and deep respect for each other continued as they did another film together in 2003 ‘Kuch Naa Kaho’.
