Recipe: Broken Wheat Halwa

Delicious halwa can be made from broken wheat or Dalia. Try out this simple recipe.

Ingredients:

½ cup broken wheat or dalia
¼ cup ghee
½ cup sugar
¼ cup jaggery
1 tsp cardamom powder
¼ cup chopped nuts

Procedure:

Heat 2-3 tsp ghee in a heavy bottomed pan. Add the dalia and fry till a delightful aroma starts emanating from the pan. Now add two cups of water and cook till the dalia is soft and water is absorbed. You can add more water if the dalia remains uncooked. When the entire water dries up, add sugar and jaggery. Now add the remaining ghee and nuts and cook till the mixture separates.
