Try out this easy to make basic brownie recipe.
5 squares unsweetened chocolate
2/3 cup butter
2 cups white sugar
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup chopped nuts, or chocolate chips, or raisins
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Melt the chocolate and butter in a heavy pan. When melted add the sugar and eggs, and stir until combined. Sift the flour, salt, and baking powder into the pan; stir until combined.
Stir in the nuts (or raisins, or toffee bits, etc.).
Spread the batter in the pan, smoothing it into the corners.
Bake for about 40 minutes. Cool before cutting.
