Recipe: Maida Murukku

Try this amazing festive snack today.


Maida:½ kilo
Butter:50 gm
Oil:¼ kilo
Sesame:1 spoon
Asafoetida:a small piece
Salt:1 spoon
Ulutham paruppu maavu ( black gram dal flour):1 cup


Heat water in an idli pan.
Place a cloth on the idli plate.
Spread maida on the cloth.
Cover the pan with a lid.
Steam maida for ½ an hour.
Remove the maida and spread on a big plate to dry.
Soak asafoetida in water.
Mix maida, black gram dal flour, sesame, asafoetida water, salt, butter with water little by little and knead well to a dough .
Heat oil in a frying pan.
Place some dough in the murukku mold and press into the oil.
When the murukku turns golden brown, remove it from the oil.
