Recipe: Methi Chicken

Try the exquisite flavour of methi and spices with chicken.


1 kg chicken cut into pieces
1 cup curd
1 ½ tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 ½ tbsp green chilli paste
1 tsp red chilli powder
2 onions
2 tomatoes
1 tsp garam masala powder
1 tsp black pepper powder
½ tsp coriander powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
2 tbsp dried fenugreek leaves (kasoori methi)
3 tbsp refined oil
Salt to taste


Clean chicken. Mix the chicken with curd, ginger-garlic paste, green chilli paste, red chilli powder and salt. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Heat oil in a kadai and fry chopped onions till golden brown. Add chopped tomatoes, coriander powder and turmeric powder and cook till tomatoes soften.

Stir in the chicken pieces and cook till ¾ th done. Now add kasoori methi and cook till the chicken is done, over a medium flame closing the lid. Add water for gravy if necessary.

Sprinkle garam masala and pepper powder. Mix well and remove from fire. Serve hot with naan or parantha.
