`Independence Day 2` set to release on July 3, 2015

New York: `Independence Day 2`, the sequel to the 1996 sci-fi blockbuster will be hitting the theatres on July 3 next year.

However, it is not clear if director Roland Emmerich and producer Dean Devlin, who were the brain child behind the original `Independence Day` will be able to bring Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum on the board, the New York Daily News reported. The filmmakers had been struggling for years to get the sequel financed despite the fact that the first movie fetched a whopping 817.4 million dollars. Emmerich has just said that the sequel will be part of a two-part story entitled `ID Forever.` ANI
