Horror movies dominated the US box office over the Halloween weekend with `Saw 3D` toppling `Paranormal Activity 2` as the top horror film.

London: Horror movies dominated the US box office over the Halloween weekend with `Saw 3D` toppling `Paranormal Activity 2` as the top horror film. The seventh and the last installment in the series traces the story of psychokiller Jigsaw and clinched the top slot with USD 24.2 million pushing `Paranormal Activity 2`, with a gross of USD 16.5 million to the second slot, Contactmusic reported.
The low budget horror film broke box office records last weekend by scoring the biggest three-day opening for a horror film, and now boasts a 10-day total of nearly USD 65.7 million. The success of the documentary-style film kept Bruce Willis` new action release `Red` at number three with USD 10.8 million, while outrageous stunt film `Jackass 3D` slipped from second to fourth slot with USD 8.4 million in earnings. Meanwhile, Matt Damon`s supernatural film `Hereafter`, directed by Clint Eastwood, completed the top five with a weekend total of USD 6.3 million. PTI
